You want to build a review website, but you aren’t sure about how to write a website review.

Well, fear not!

In this article, I am going to show you exactly how to write a website review that will not only impress your readers, but will also impress the almighty Google!

Numerous research studies done in the recent past on the importance of reviews reveal that website reviews have the most impact on purchasing decisions made online today.

According to moz.com approximately 70% of all online customers are influenced by online reviews.

This clearly shows the importance of reviews to online businesses.

People want to know what it’s like to buy a certain product or service online before they make the actual purchase.

It is important to note that there are very many inaccurate, biased and low-quality reviews online most of which are written by dissatisfied customers and competitors.

This is precisely why online reviews are very important especially to Internet marketers.

As an Internet marketer promoting products and services online, the last thing you want to see is inaccurate/biased information about the products or services you are trying to sell.

Given the fact that most people don’t go past the first page of Google, the online reputation of whatever you are trying to promote is bound to remain intact when you take the time to write accurate, engaging reviews that not only convert your readers, but Google as well.

It is challenging coming up with great product/service reviews which not only rank but also engage website visitors and make them buy certain products or services.

This leads to a very important question; how to write a website review that stands out in all aspects?

To help you answer this important question, below are crucial tips you must consider.

Tips on How to Write a Website Review

  1. Buy and use the products/services you intend to review.

This is by far one of the most important tips to consider when writing product/service reviews.

Many internet marketers rush to promote products and services they haven’t used forgetting that the best online reviews share one thing in common i.e. they are written by people who have in-depth knowledge/information about whatever they are reviewing.

The main goal of writing reviews is to help others know exactly what it’s like to buy and use certain products and services.

You can’t possibly be able to achieve this goal if you aren’t an actual customer of the products and services you are promoting.

You should also pay attention to customer feedback. A great product/service review shouldn’t contain the views of one person because different people may have different views about the same product/service.

In a nutshell, you should strive to know as much as possible about whatever you are promoting before you consider writing a review.

  1. Determine the target audience of every review beforehand.

To write a great product/service review, you also need to know your ideal target audience.

Every product/service has a target market.

It is important to know exactly who you are targeting with the review for you to be able to give them the exact kind of information they would be looking for in a language/style they would prefer.

For instance, you can’t use one writing style to write reviews for intellectuals and the masses. While intellectuals may not mind jargon/vocabularies etc., the masses tend to be turned off by ”difficult” words.

It is, therefore, important to find out exactly who your audience is.

Don’t just write a review with a broad audience in mind.

Be specific since different products/services may have different target markets.

This tip is crucial for capturing your audience’s attention while delivering crucial information.

For instance, if your target market is a group of web developers, such an audience will be more interested in a product/service review that is detailed.

The main aim of this tip is ensuring you deliver exactly what your audiences are looking for in a language/style they understand and love.

  1. Cover every important aspect of the product/service.

If you have first-hand information about products/services as well as a preferred target market/audience, you shouldn’t have a problem with this tip.

The main reason why people turn to online reviews is to know as much information as possible about buying and using certain products and services before they actually buy them.

A review that doesn’t cover as much important information as possible is therefore of very little use.

A great product/service review must include information such as product/service name, product/service features, preferred user, pricing information, quality information, top benefits, cons (if any), payment information, guarantee/return/refund policy information etc.

People also need to know other important information such as the buying process, notable endorsements, and makers of the product as well as the country where the product or service originates.

In a nutshell, you should include everything you think is important for your readers to know before they make a purchasing decision.

  1. Use high quality images.

This is another great tip to consider when looking at how to write a website review.

In most cases, you will need to be practical when reviewing certain aspects of the products or services you are marketing.

For instance, you may need to show what products look like, how to order them online, how to use them etc.

Words alone may not be effective when writing a software review for instance.

Your readers need to see exactly how to install and find basic features. This is where images come in handy.

If you encounter difficulties explaining certain aspects of a product or service in words, use images instead or both.

You must however use high quality images to convey the right brand image.

Take high quality pictures of the product you are reviewing. You can hire a professional photographer to get the best pictures possible.

Besides making it easier to understand some technical aspects of products and services, images also make reviews more attractive and engaging.

  1. Consider adding a video.

In order for a review to be effective, it is important to show prospective customers the product as opposed to telling them about.

It is also good for SEO to embed YouTube videos.

Making videos is much easier than you think. You don’t even have to be in front of the camera.

You can simply make a screen capture video showing the product and how to use it.

Upload the video to YouTube and then embed it in your review.

This can be very powerful and engaging for your audience.

  1. Optimize the review for search engines.

One of the most important goals of writing online reviews is to boost the search engine visibility of the products/services on sale.

The best product reviews are those that get the attention of readers as well as search engines. SEO (search engine optimization) is a very important part of writing online reviews since most people search for reviews online via search engines like Google.

As a result, your review must be search engine friendly for it to be found easily on Google.

Your review must contain keywords people are most likely to type on Google when looking for the products/services you are promoting.

Here are some SEO tips that you should be using in every website review that you write.

  • Use Your Keyword in the Title
  • Use the keyword in the page URL
  • Use the Keyword in Your Meta Description
  • Use the Keyword in the First Paragraph
  • Use Proper Keyword Density, 1-2%
  • Use the Keyword in at least one Heading and more if possible
  • Highlight the Keyword Throughout your Page with Bold or Italic
  • Only Use the Keyword for One Page Or Post
  • Use the Keyword in the Alt Tag of at Least One Image
  • Use the Keyword in the Last Paragraph

If you don’t know about SEO, you need to learn the basics since there is no need of writing a great review that people can’t find easily on Google.

  1. Be honest 100%.

Honesty has to be one of the most important attributes of a great product/service review.

It is important to note that there is no perfect product or service and potential customers usually know this.

There is therefore no need to exaggerate or be dishonest.

In fact, internet users appreciate honest reviews more than most people realize so, don’t be afraid to point out possible drawbacks of the product or service you are reviewing.

You should, however, do so in a subtle manner to avoid scaring potential buyers.

Even though you may have bought and used the product/service you are promoting, pay attention to past reviews/customer feedback to be able to find out more.

Honest reviews offer the best outcome in the long run. If you feel you can’t recommend a product/service, maybe you could recommend an alternative.

If you feel you can’t write a genuine overly positive review, pursue means of presenting an accurate review.

There are many ways of writing positive reviews without being dishonest.

For instance, you can choose to ignore the flaws or put a spin on them. However, don’t lie. Your readers will find out later and fill the Internet with negative reviews.

  1. Include an overall summary/verdict.

Let’s face it! Most Internet users have a very short attention span so it might not be possible for them to read every single word in your review.

This is precisely why it’s important to include a section that summarizes your review perfectly and gives an overall verdict.

You can include the summary/verdict section at the end of the review so that your readers have an opportunity to scroll through the review before they see the summary, or you can include it at the beginning, in case your reader has made up their mind.

Don’t forget to be honest even when writing the summary.

Include the good and the bad. Internet users are usually wary of biased and seemingly dishonest reviews so it’s also important to give an accurate/honest summary.

Conclusion

The above information summarizes the most important considerations for how to write website review.

Although there may be other tips to consider, the above tips are adequate enough to guide you on the right path.

To write a great website review, you must have in-depth knowledge about the products and services you are reviewing as well as your target audience.

You also need to cover all the important aspects of buying and using the product or service in question.

Furthermore, you need to make the review engaging and easy to follow by adding high-quality images.

It is also important to add all the necessary SEO components to the review and give an overall summary/verdict.

Last but not least, the review needs to be honest otherwise, it won’t stand out. Most online reviews today are dishonest. An honest review, therefore, stands the best chance of being considered.

Thanks for any other informative blog. Where else could I get that type of info written in such a perfect means? I have a project that I am just now running on, and I have been on the glance out for such info.

  2. Make sure that you are providing your readers with quality writing. No one wants to read a poorly written review. A poorly written review discredits you in the eyes of your readers. If you can hardly spell or construct a sentence, why should your readers put any stock in what you say? Use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation to build credibility.

  3. Nice information i also want to add some reviews on my graphics cards website. Thanks for sharing.

I’m planning to venture into affiliate marketing and getting legitimate and honest reviews are truly hard to find. Most comments are usually from dissatisfied customers that’s why online reviews are greatly sought after these days. Great share, very helpful tips!
