I will be adding all the necessary requirements to create a well balance post that is pleasing to the human eye but meets all the requirements for Google.

What is SEO?

SEO is an acronym for search engine optimization. The goal is to create a website that caters to search engines. The tricky part is making the website interesting to the human eye. SEO is a crucial part when developing traffic. There are many ways to increase traffic to your website but SEO is the main one. Writing an irresistible title, description, and opening sentence is not enough.  If you are using WordPress the best plugging for SEO is Yoast WordPress SEO.

On Page SEO

Tips For Easy Optimizing On Page:

Focus Keyword: The focus keyword is the topic of your page or post. The main purpose of the page is to focus on one keyword per page. A great post just concentrates on a topic per page. The focus keyword should be high in demand and relatively low in supply.

The higher in demand the keyword has the more traffic it will generate. The keyword should be placed strategically on your page. The focus keyword should be placed near the top of the page, middle, and in the bottom.

  • Keyword/phrase appears in the URL for this page
  • Keyword/Key-phrases appears in 2 (out of 4) subheadings in the copy. While not a major ranking factor, this is beneficial.
  • The keyword appears in the first paragraph of the post.
  • For best SEO results, it is important to place keywords in those headings. Subheadings provide a skeletal framework of your price.
  • Most people still have a lot of remembering SEO rules when publishing their post. As a rule of thumb your keyword should appear in your first paragraph and int he last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword.

Tips for Keywords: The keyword phrase you choose is 100% relevant to the post. The keyword phrase you choose should have 3-4 words in length.

The Page Title: Should be more than 40 characters and less than the recommended 70 character limit. Using good post titles will help your SEO. Your title needs to contain the keyword or keyword phrase for the post.

Meta Description: The description is under 120 characters, however up to 156 characters are available. The available space is shorter than the usual 155 characters because Google will also include the publication date in the snippet. Make sure to consideredWhat kind of meta descriptions will actually inspire clicks?  This is a way to get your readers attention.

Meta Tags: Meta descriptions tags, while not important to search engines rankings are extremely important un ganging user click-through from SERPS.  Meta tags is not a  magical solution, but they will help ensure your website appears on search engine results pages.

Keyword Density:  What is the density of keyword? Is an SEO term refers to the amount of times a keyword found on your page? The percentage of a particular keyword appears on your page or site should not exceed 2-3 %.  Understanding density of keyword will help your site has a competitive advantage today.

There are many factor that go into your Search Engine Optimization but one of the most important is keyword density for SEO. Keyword density requires balance. There is a fine line between having too much, enough or too few keywords on a single web page. Understanding keyword density is one step to leveraging your keyword stuffing is squeezing in as much of your desired keyword. There are many tools to find out your keyword density:

  • SEO Book is a great tool to check your density percentage of a page.

No Duplicate Content: You should never have duplicate content on your blog. Duplicate content can be a major source of SEO problems.

Post Length: The length of your post effects how search engines index your post. I normally try to shoot for 500 to 700 words or more. Google requires a minimum of 300 word count. SEO for Google has an average of 349.7 words per post with a median of 315 words per post. Top rank blogs had an average of 742 words.

SEO Images Optimization: If you want more traffic, you must learn how to optimize your images. Images do drive traffic through image search. I usually name my images prior to uploading them. Make sure to use the keyword to filled out the Title and Alt Text this will help you to optimize your images.

Outbound Links: Links are the connection between various web pages and when such links are attached to websites, they are called outbound links. Outbound links play a critical role in your overall linking strategy. Make sure to link out to high quality websites. (Relevant to your post )  Too many outbound links however can greatly diminish the Page Rank. The page should have at least 3 outbound links.

Subheadings: In SEO, chances are that the words you use in your subheadings will be caught by search engines spiders. For best SEO results, it is important to place your keywords in those headings. To fully understand the purpose of headings think as them as a web page outline, the H1, H2, etc heading tags serve to divide the page into sections.

      Hey Jay,

I like the idea of having a blog roll. The most successful bloggers always share each others blogs to their audience. I would highly recommend only adding relevant blogs to your niche. This will help you showcase other bloggers that would return the favor back.
