In todays interview, we are going to be talking with Lance Bachmann from 1SEO.Com.
Founder and President of 1SEO.com, Lance Bachmann knew exactly what it would take to start one of the most prestigious digital marketing agencies in the industry. His ambition, respect, and knowledge of the business world were what catapulted him to form what we now know as 1SEO.com. Back in 2009, President Bachmann had a vision to provide businesses with elite SEO, PPC, and social media services. Prior to the establishment of 1SEO.com, Lance founded YellowPages.com, a division of AT&T, becoming their first employee. What it boils down to for Lance is that he enjoys everything about his work and what he does. He also takes pride in providing clients with successful Internet marketing campaigns.

1. Hi Lance, can you tell my readers and me more about yourself? What do you do in the world of online marketing for anyone who isn’t already familiar?
I am the CEO and founder of 1SEO.com, a company that specializes in search engine optimization aka “SEO,” which is where we help get businesses ranked on Google, as well as help them come back for keywords related to their business. We are based in Levittown, PA, which is about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. My company also offers pay per click services, social media optimization services, and website design and development services.
2. When and where did you make your first dollar in Internet Marketing?
Well, before I started 1SEO.com, I use to work for AT&T. While I was there I founded the YellowPages.com for AT&T and helped take this part of the company from having $0 to having nearly $160 million in revenue in just a short amount of time. After that I left the company and ventured out to establish 1SEO.com.
3. What strategies are Evergreen and help generating revenue month after month despite what some big search does?
If being “evergreen” means that you are continuously relevant, one of the most important things that my team and I strive to do every day is make sure we are on top of the latest SEO news and updates. In order for us to continue generating revenue, I feel like we all need to keep educating ourselves so that we always know what’s going on in our space. We don’t want to be doing today what we should have already been doing yesterday!
4. What is your biggest online marketing challenge?
Honestly, one of our biggest challenges is trying to convince our clients just how important it is to have SEO down to their websites, and how important it is for them to provide their input into their Internet marketing campaigns. Sure, we do all of the “real work” but our clients know their business best, so it is important for us to have a relationship with them that is continuous instead of having our phone calls and emails ignored. We need stuff from them to do our job just like they want to see results. We also run into a lot of clients that just cannot grasp what we do for them, and we try to better their understanding by meeting with them and “showing the work” we have done so to speak.
5. What are your top “must follow” Internet marketing blogs?
My team and I pay close attention to and follow Search Engine Land, Moz’s Blog, and we also read Mr. Matt Cutts’ blog (Mr. SEO himself!)
6. How do you communicate your trustworthiness?
At 1SEO.com, we value being transparent. When you sit down with us in the initial consultation we will relay all of our services step by step and tell you exactly how everything will work, and what we need from you to make us work for you. We also have deliverables each month so that you know what work is being done. We don’t just take your money and disappear, we will always being calling you and trying to set up meetings so that we have everything we need in order for your Internet marketing campaign to be successful.
7. What is the biggest mistake I can avoid starting out in Internet Marketing?
Forgetting to educate yourself! SEO changes so much, Google’s algorithm changes so much, Internet marketing strategies can change so much that you need to make sure that you stay on top of what’s current. Strategies and tactics are always changing, so a big mistake would be one in which you are not up with the current times.
8. How can you find out what your audience is really looking for?
Well, I can find out what my audience is looking for by looking at data, as well as our competitors. They’re may not be any “sure-fire” way to find out what they are looking for, but you can also do it by looking at the current trends surrounding your niche.
9. What is next for Lance, What can we expect this coming year?
Of course my company and I are looking to take on more business. We already take clients all over the globe, but we are going to push ourselves to become bigger and bigger. One of the ways in which I hope to achieve this is by continuing to speak at conferences more about SEO and the benefits of it around the globe.
10. What area of online marketing do you consider yourself an expert in?
Search engine optimization. You don’t become a nationally-recognized firm by TopSEOs and Website Magazine by not being on top of all of the latest SEO techniques, strategies, and changes.
