It’s no secret that I absolutely love Pinterest. Why? Because it drives 90% of my business and Etsy traffic. In today’s post, I will be sharing how to get click on Pinterest and explode your Etsy traffic. Let’s get started!
The most important Pinterest metric
The most important metric when it comes to analyzing your pins on Pinterest is “clicks.” Why? Because the ultimate goal of using Pinterest is to drive traffic to your product and services.
#1 Not Sizing Your Pins The Right Size
Pinterest is inherently visual – so it’s important to optimize the pins the right size.
- The number one mistake many people make is not sizing their pins correctly.
- Pinterest recommends a 2:3 aspect ratio means that your image’s width is 2/3 its height.
For example, your pin could be 1200 pixels wide, by 1800 pixels tall. If the image falls outside of this ratio, it can get truncated in people’s feed and they won’t get to see the full pin.
#2 Making Unattractive Pins
Many people make the mistakes of pinning unattractive pins.
Your pins have a few minutes to grabs someone’s attention. It should make them stop scrolling the feed, look at your pin, and entice them to want to click to learn more about the product or service.
#3 Use Vertical Images Only
The quickest way to make your pins stand out in the feed and get more clicks is by making them vertical.
Vertical Pins work better especially when the majority of people are browsing using their mobile devices. It will fill up most of their screen and grab their attention.
Stay away from horizontal or square images.
#4 Not Smaller Than 600 PX Wide
Make sure your images are not smaller than 600 px wide because your images will be pixelated and blurry.
Please note: just follow the image ratio recommended by Pinterest 2:3
#5 Not Including Text Overlay On Images
To catch the attention of users scrolling quickly through feeds, add text overlay directly onto your images that are easy to read.
The text overlay should convince the user to want to click on your pin to learn more about your product and services.
Keep the text simple, the phrases short, and all of it easy to read.
#6 Writing Weak Descriptions
Pin descriptions should contain an engaging, keyword-rich explanation of what is in the content or link behind your pin.
Use compelling words like, “grab now” “buy now” “download now” to make them the user take action.
#7 Experiment With Video Pins
Video Pins are a great way to tell a more comprehensive story about your brand, idea, or project.
Why? People love to watch videos, they’re an engaging format that’s perfect for brand story-telling.
