Did you know well-crafted product descriptions can significantly improve your conversion rate and increase sales?
Writing enticing listing descriptions does take a bit of practice but when you use the formula I will be sharing today it’s going to make the process so much easier and the best part it will help you boost your sales.
If you are currently struggling when it comes to writing a product description that explains what a product is and why is worth purchasing then you need to read this post until the end.
The product description should contain all the information a customer needs to know before they purchase. It’s important that you supply your customers with as much valuable content, such as features and benefits in an engaging way so readers will want to buy from you.
Let’s dive right in!
Know Who Your Target Audience Is
This is a crucial step in marketing. You need to know who will be interested in your products.
So start by thinking about their needs- what do they want from the product or service that you are offering? What kind of person does this speak most directly to (age group)? Why would they buy from you?
Once you have determined your audience’s personality type, then writing an enticing listing description becomes much easier because there should only exist one specific tone throughout your Etsy descriptions and all adverts of your business.
Focus On Selling The Benefits of The Product
The benefits of the product come first. It is critical that you start by highlighting what your customers will experience if they choose to buy and use this service or item so that people can see why we’re worth their while!
You need to show how your product solves a problem. And STOP selling the product itself – focus on selling the benefits.
Customers don’t care about your product or service’s features. Instead, they want to know how what you sell will benefit them.
When you focus on the benefits, you can turn a prospective customer into a buying customer.

Use Power Words That Sell
Power words are persuasive words used to trigger a psychological and/or emotional response. Don’t use vague language, but be creative in your storytelling. That is the only way you’ll capture their attention and make them want to read on!
Examples of power words are Bestselling, Final, Proven, Reliable, Irresistible, Made for You. Strategic use of power words in your description and anywhere you promote your business can lead to more cash in your pocket.
Make It Easy To Scan
Your product description should be easy to read. Having two sentences about the benefits of your product with several bullet points allows customers to receive this information quickly, so they can make an informed decision and purchase immediately if desired.
Avoid writing long paragraphs because many people will not read them. Keep your sentences short and to the point, so that it is easier for readers to digest everything you’re saying in one sitting.
Optimize for Search Engines
To help you rank higher on search engines, I recommend optimizing your product description. Add your tags as organically and naturally within the context of your description. This will help you amplify your reach by driving more traffic from Google and other large search engines.
Use Natural Language and Tone
To make your message more interesting. It is important for your product description to have an engaging, personal feel through voice input that sounds like it’s coming from someone you know (in this case-you!).
This will help customers stay longer on the listing because they are being spoken to by their peers instead of generic corporate text writing patterns used by most sellers.
Promote Similar Products
Take advantage of each listing by promoting similar products or if happen to offer a collection. This is the perfect opportunity for you and your buyers! You can up-sell them into buying more than one product with just some creativity in how we word our descriptions
The content could read: “I have something else that will make their day brighter,” which might entice people who are shopping around at this time but not ready yet, while also giving potential customers ideas on where they stand within your store’s offerings
Customer Service
At the end of your description make sure to display customer service. For example, you can say something like: Thank you so much for stopping by our store! We would love to help in any way that we can. If there is anything at all, please don’t hesitate and feel free contact us with your questions or concerns about this product today-we’re always here ready to listen. And sign with your shop or your name.
I personally like using my name to give it more of a personal touch.
