Yeah, the web 2.0 do link a lot quicker. I still recommend the other sites because for the most part majority of business will need to open social media sites for their business. There are tons of way to gain backlinks just making sure they are naturally and not from spammy websites.

You want to make sure to get backlinks from authority sites and not spammy ones. Over time your backlinks will start growing naturally which is the proper way!
Does BBB offer their service for free ? I think they are charge you money to list to BBB, right ?
Social media profiles are important, and using those social medias is even more important. But none of them (as far as I know) offer a do follow backlink.

Some good tips here. Is there anyway to submit a video to a lot of those sites at one time? It is a lot of work to upload to 10 different video hosting sites.
That is certainly an interesting way to get recognized and indexed by Google.
Websites with .edu domains typically have high authority as they have been around for a long time and have many trusted and quality sites linking to them.
