Have you considered turning your passions into a source of income by creating your very own online course?
Last year I made a video where I share how I made $234K from one digital product it became one of my top videos and many of you guys wanted to know the process of how to make money with digital courses.
In today’s blog post, I’m going to share how to create an online course to sell with five simple steps. By the end of this post, you’ll have actionable steps you can take to start your very own digital course.
Create Digital Product
I have been fornutate enough that my digital course has made $437K in passive income since my last video update. However, my first attempt at launching an online course did flop and I have learned a lot since then. And I am going to be sharing my tops tips to help you get started the right way.
Did you know creating and selling courses online is a booming market at the moment and is expected to exceed $325 billion by 2025? This is the perfect time to monetize your knowledge and create a course.
Let’s go ahead and get started with how to create an online course.
How To Create An Online Course Step by Step
Choose your course topic
Teach others about your passion by creating a course on something that is close to you. This can be a topic that you’re knowledgeable about and you can easily share with others because it’s your passion. If you have something that lights up your life and makes the world better, don’t keep it to yourself!
I know someone who makes money teaching others how to make sourdough bread. Don’t overcomplicate things and create a course on something that you’re genuinely passionate about.
Market Research The Topic Extensively
This will tell us if there’s enough demand for your course topic and give an idea of what kind of price point would work in order to attract buyers!
Market research can be a very intimidating topic, but it’s important to see if your course idea is worth the time, money, and resources needed for its development.
Don’t skip this part of the course creating because it can ultimately make you or break you.
Create The Course Outline
Once you have decided what information will be included in the course, it’s time to create an outline that helps organize your thoughts.
A good way to start out when gathering your thoughts is by selecting key points and ideas for each section or lesson on a single page then building off those main key points until we reach our final content.
The Course Outline allows enough flexibility when designing your course because you’re able see how individual sections fit into the overall plan at all times; there’s no guesswork involved!
Create The Course Content
Create the course content in a way that is engaging, creative, and informative. Make your student’s experience an enjoyable course and make sure to encourage them to take action and implement the work.
In addition, decide if you are going to record yourself doing videos or are planning to do a screen share or both.
Sell Your Online Course
One way to sell your online course that many people overlook is via social media. Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok you can establish yourself as an influencer in the field of your niche.
Make sure to provide daily value through your posts, stories, videos, and this will help you position yourself as an industry leader within your niche.
As a result, this will create trustworthiness amongst your followers and by doing this consistently over time and building relationships you’ll start selling your course in no time!
One piece of advice I can give you if you’re feeling the imposter syndrome is that you’re not trying to sell your course to people that know more than you but people who know less than you! is pretty normal for most creators including myself who has 13 years of experience in the digital marketing space to feel like imposter syndrome from time to time but don’t let that stop you from achieving your dreams.
Learning How To Create An Online Course
The first tool I use is the Teachable platform as my hosting site. What’s great about them is that you can start your online course and upload videos and not have to pay anything until your course goes live. So, even if takes you 6 months to create all of the course content you don’t pay anything. It also helps with your mindset and makes it more real because you have started the process of uploading your content.
The second tool that I use is Canva presentation templates. You can use them for your course slides, customize the colors for your branding, add your logo, and much more. The best part is free to use.
The third tool that I use is Camtasia. They are a video software company and I have used them now for over 4 years. I use them for my course, YouTude videos, and other projects.
And lastly, you need to get a microphone so you can create some high-quality videos. I currently use my Blue Jetti and I love it.
